A Tuesday Top Five

Randy & Spiff were “let go” yesterday from that radio station where they were drawing a paycheck. After years and years of getting up early to “Wake Up” the nice folks in Georgia, their routines have changed a bit. With that in mind, here are the TOP FIVE things Spiff Carner did this morning:

5—Set alarm clock for 3:30, wake up, toss clock in toilet, flush, go back to sleep.

4—Breakfast. Which beer do I try this morning?

3—Begin composing new country song, “Jobs may come and jobs may go but you’ll always be my baby.”

2—Call former radio station and attempt to win those much coveted fair tickets.

1—Look in mirror, notice unsightly nose hairs and say “Screw it!”

Thank God! I was so afraid that since you guys weren't 'on the air' we wouldn't have the pleasure of starting our days with you. But, this may be even better...no nasty advertisements to intefere and we get our daily dose. Yes, all may still be Fine and Dandy! We love you guys!

Thanks Anonymous ... if that indeed is your real name.

Looking forward to the posts from you guys. Been a listener since my dad got me hooked you guys in the Fox 97 days. Tragedy the corporate types don't pay any mind to the listeners in this town.

As one of your loyal listeners, I am waiting to find out which station will be my new favorite station. HINT: That will be the station that hires Randy and Spiff. The world is a sad place when the 2 of you are not on the air.

Music was wierd on 106.7 today, so I came to your site to find out the problem. All I can say is DANG!
Hope you land on a real OLDIES station soon!

Mornings and laughing in traffic will just not be the same without you guys. Darn 106.7fm ..... they just lost me as a listener. Love the fact that we can keep up with ya via posts. And hope something much better comes your way thru the airwaves. Keep us posted. Miss tons already! xoxox-Andi L

Maybe I am the curse--I would listen to you guys when I would come up to visit my brother, one of the highlights of coming up to Atlanta. I moved here in 1996, and seems that everything is great, then one morning, AGAIN, I am driving hypnotized on 285 and don't hear the funniest 2 guys I have ever heard on any radio station! Keep us posted on where you go!

So when do Randy & Spiff come to satellite radio? I can't believe the goofballs running that radio station have gotten rid of Scott Shannon, Freddie Brooks & now you guys. I will miss you!!!

We live out of state now but I have a great Randy and Spiff story of some of our days in Georgia. My daughter was 5 years old at the time we moved to Athens when we returned with my husband to study for his doctorate at good ole UGA! GO DOWGS! I stopped one day to get my daughter a Happy Meal. The toy was the DeLorean from "Back to The Future." which we had recently watched. I ask her if she knew who that was with the silver car. With no hesitation she smiled a great big smile and said, I know who it is...it’s Spiff! We have laughed about that so many times over the years. She loved to listen to Spiff and Randy and I did/do too! Thanks for the laughs and memories you guys.

This is really weird - back in 2002 you guys got canned, and I got canned, too. And then we all found new jobs shortly thereafter.

Now, last November I got canned again (damn AIG), and now, 11 months later, you guys get canned again, too. We are all about the same age, too (I am between you and Randy in age) - ain't life weird....

I got worried Tues am when you weren't on the air. We've been through this too many times. I'll be waiting to find out where to set my radio. Please hurry back! My morning drive is just too painful without you. I keep changing the station hoping for something good.

106.7 made a mistake. We will no longer listen since Randy and Spiff are not on there. Can't wait for you to find a new Radio Home.....

chkdheWell, no reason to listen to 106.7 anymore. Hurry and find us a station, guys!!

106.7 "let go" Randy and Spiff, I "let go" 106.7. Didn't listen to any of that garbage they called "classic hits" since they dumped the Scott Shannon show. I only listed to the station in the mornings for Randy and Spiff!

Hope you guys land somewhere locally SOON, preferably on a "real" oldies or classic station.

Hint to program directors: if you can't "hum that tune," it ain't music!

Wow... Tripp is so dull. We need you guys back. No friday song... No Top Five... No crazy people calling in with jokes. This is an outrage. I will write a letter to my congressman.

I thought you guys may have been on a vacation last week, but when I did not hear the "Friday Song" I was a bit concerned. When I tuned in this morning and I didn't hear you, it hacked me off because I knew what had happened. Guess I'll reset my 106.7 button to 97.1 (again). I'm glad we can still keep up with you guys online. I'm sure you will land somewhere fairly soon. (BTW - how long are you required to be off the air before you can "resurface" at another station?) We miss you guys already. Best of luck!

Like many others, we have followed Randy and Spiff all over the radio dial. With recent events I have deleted 106.7 off the dial and am looking forward to "locking in" your next radio home. Take care and looking forward to hearing both of you again very soon.

UGHHHH...why are station owners so stupid these days! They keep making the same mistake over and over again. Let's start a petition to get Randy & Spiff back on the air!! No one makes a bad day better than they do!

Anonymous said...

I can't believe it has happened again!! I sure miss you all in the mornings as do many of my friends. Thanks for the posts so we can still have our Spiff Fix. But rather hear you and Randy on the air. Hofefully soon!!!

When are these radio people going to understand that there are a lot of us "babyboomers" and even our kids who love the music yall play. They just can't seem to see the mistake they have made because we aren't going to listen to their NEW station at all. We look forward to hearing you on another station soon who will realize that they need to keep you until YOU decide to leave.
