You know you have my vote. Love to see/hear you and Randy back as a team on Atlanta radio.

Thanks Lanny! I guess I should show them my poll results. How could they say no????

No hanging chads on the election! ! !

You guys are the best. I loved listening to your morning show on my way from Alpharetta to Cumberland Mall every day. I have been going up and down the dial looking for you. I pray that the R & S team will be back on Atlanta radio soon.

I just read about the new oldies station. The first thing that popped in my head was I hope they get Randy and Spiff on there. I would be sure to tune in then. I also loved the you tube posted with the lizard or whatever it was jumping on the guy and he freaked. That was really funny. Miss listening to you guys.

Thanks Beth. I don't know what the on-air personalities situation is at the new oldies station. You can bet that I will try to find out though. I would love to be on the air again in Atlanta doing oldies!

When I heard this I immediately thought of you! We need our oldies and we want you back on the radio.

Spiff said...

Thanks Lisa. Needless to say I would love to have a chance to be a part of the new oldies station here in Atlanta. The morning slot is already filled with "Imus" and I have no idea what their plans are for the remainder of the day.

Imus and Spiff....Nah....doesn't quite work does it. Get rid of that grumpy old fart and put Randy and Spiff back on the air together.

The question is...would Randy leave his new solo career to hook up with Spiffo again?

Glad to have the Oldies back on Atlanta Radio. But is not REALLY oldies without SPIFF. Hope to hear you soon buddy!!! If not on the oldies - somewhere else here. Keep us posted.

Thanks gang! As you can imagine, I would LOVE to work at True Oldies 106.7.

I WANT MY RANDY AND SPIFF!

'nuff said.

Now tell 106.7 to get off their rears and hire the best darn team in radio history. Noon, aftrernoon or boot that grumpy guy in the morning to the AM dial where he belongs and bring on the Ultimate Oldies concerts again!

Love ya Spiff!!!

We are so excited to have oldies back in Atlanta!!!!!! Hope my morning DJ's come back!

This music is clean, you can understand the words, and best of all, it is inter-generational. So inter-generational, that local stores play it to keep customers in the store longer (a direct quote from a store manager!)

I am glad there is an Oldie Station again. I hate the morning show. Who is that guy who can't talk? How can we help to get you as the morning DJ? Let me know who to call or write and I will pass it around the office. I miss you and Randy, too, so much!!!!!!!

Check it out, we need ya back on the air. Don't need Imes...

Spiff said...

I listened to Randy and Spiff on WFOX-FM Fox 97.1 and Cool 105.7 FM for many years. Spiff was always very entertaining, but Randy was always very stiff. Fox 97 played the same 97 Oldies over and over and over again in their later years. I have heard by many that things were very political at Fox 97 among the d.j.`s. What was the bad blood between Dr. John Long and Randy and Spiff? I read some of Long`s comments about it long ago on his website. He said that Mitch Elliot and Randy and Spiff were arrogant to him. Spiff, please spill the goods about what all happened at Fox 97. Was Dr. john a complete ass? I met him one time at the Kroger in Cartersville and he seemed liked a royal ass, in my opinion. Spiff, we love you and want the real dirt about the Fox 97 days!

Spiff said...

First, let me just say thanks for listening to the Randy and Spiff show on Fox 97 and then on Cool 105.7. Second ... I worked with Randy since the mid 80's and consider him one of the best straight men in the business. He set me up for countless lines. I have never heard him described as "stiff." (Not even by his wife! *rimshot*) However, I think a show called "Stiff and Spiff in the Morning" would be successful. As far as Dr. John goes ... I did not see his online comments about us and if true, I am sorry that he thinks Mitch, Randy and myself were arrogant towards him. We have alway worked hard to be part of the team striving for a successful goal and have never thought that we were better than anyone else including our incredible co-workers. (Most of whom we keep in contact with and call good friends.) Although we were often the "face" of the radio station, we realized that our success was due as much to the hard work of our co-workers as to our own talents ... Dr. John included.

Since our oldies went off the air at the end of 07, I had been listening to 102.9 Toccoa/Gainesville but do not have good reception around the ATL area only if you were near Gainesville or further north. Yeah, now we have a station in ATL - now all we have to do is get Randy and Spiff back -y'all were the ones who made my driving to Athens too short in the mornings-I considered moving further away so I could listen longer-ha! Good luck with your new ventures and hope to hear you soon locally - in the AM or PM, whenever you are there.

What is Randy doing now? I read that he had gone solo - where?

Good luck and kindest regards,
Charlotte

Spiff said...

Thanks for checking in Charlotte. Randy is still doing the news/talk thing. We remain GREAT friends! I would LOVE to work at True Oldies 106.7. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I can see that I'm not alone in my wish to see you and Randy back on the radio! When I heard that 106.7 had switched to Oldies, I was so excited. Of course my first thought is now they need Randy and Spiff. I had set my radio to 106.7 but let me tell you...waking up to Imus is scary! Waking up to the wonderful voices of Randy and Spiff would be awesome.
I hope before the end of 2008, the Braves win another World Series and Randy & Spiff are together again on the radio!

I thought that I saw Spiff doing a 94.9 TV spot last night

Anonymous said...

My bad, it was a wannabe.

Where is the update about True Oldies 106.7 calling back Spiff and putting him on the air? The new Oldies station needs a local voice! How about paring him up with longtime Fox 97 voice B.B. Murray? Where is B.B. now? Has True Oldies 106.7 even bothered to call Spiff back? Randy is under contract to WGST AM ad Clear Channel radio. When does his current contract expire? Would he want to rejoin Spiff?

Helloooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am the very famous Bobby Gabore!!!!!!!! I am now proudly appearing at the Majic Blue Room at the Beautiful Budget Motel Sanddipper Lounge located off of Higway 41 behind the burned out Hardees and the deserted empty former Kroger Shopping Mall. Hellooooooooooo............Spiffo!!!!!!!!!!!! Please get a gig at this new Oldies station so I can come LIVE on the air and sing my new version of Neil Sakada`s "Having My Baby". I also have a hot new version of the 1974 Mac Davis hit "Baby, Baby don`t get hooked on me"............. Siffo, I love you, man!!!!!! You are much off without Randy. Isn`t the Kimmer looking for him, anyway to get his slot back at WGST........... I will close with my version of "Memories............ Memories about Spiffo................

Bobbbbbeeeeeeeeee Gaboor! The entertainer's entertainer! Glad to see you made parole and are back at the club. Hope the tips will keep you up to date with the three alimony payments you have. If I ever land back on the radio again, you can bet that you'll be the first person I call ... block.

True oldies poll about Don Imus is very revealing about what there listeners don't like. Check it out on there web site. Good luck Spiff, we miss you.

Anonymous said...

Is there a way to email the True Oldies station that I can't find? Imus needs to go - SPIFF needs to happen!!!!!! How awesome to have Spiff back doing oldies!

Anonymous said...

PLEASE - beam us up, Spiff! - there's no intelligent life here without you and Randy!!! I'm awaiting the day you come to 106.7.

WE MISS YOU BOTH SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH! The commute just isn't the same without your voice of reason in a sea of the inane!

Marie

Unknown said...

Marie, Amen to that commute without Randy and Spiff. Who wants to listen to someone up NORTH/Imus telling us about the Yankees. Not me, I want to hear a talk show that is local to the ATL area.

Hey Spiff I really miss you and Randy. I hope that 106.7 will bring you two back. Best of luck with that. Have you heard anything back yet? I may be young (only 30 years old) but I have been listening to you and Randy since I was like 11 years old (which is when you came to Fox). It was a real blow to lose such long time "family members." I have tried many many many other stations and nothing is the same as your show. I WANT MY RANDY AND SPIFF BACK.

Anonymous said...

I knew it! I knew it! Most of the comments agree with me .... Randy and Spiff were the best! After 97.1 faded to wherever, there were no REAL oldies stations. I am thrilled there is one now, but hate that it's just a boring talk thing in the morning. Don't y'all know us working stiffs have to be pumped up in the morning?? Please please please, no more Imus. If you can't put Randy and Spiff on in the morning (I would listen to them ALL day), at least play the oldies in the morning. I am VERY happy, Spiff, that you are back (and Fred's getting the hang of it). Thank you, thank you!

Unknown said...

Ok, Let's get Randy back too. Enough is enough. The oldies are not the same. Give Fred his own slot. Ron

OK... so this is a delayed reaction... I was just wondering this morning, "Hey! Whatever happened to Randy and Spiff after the demise of Fox97?" I finally remembered to check online, and BAM! Here's 1/2 of my question solved! I will have to start listening to 106.7 now! Life has been so empty without you two clowns on the radio! I used to listen to you every morning on my way to work, and have met you two at several of the Ultimate Oldies concerts! Life was good back then!!! Hopefully we can get the two of you back!!! Atlanta just hasn't been the same...

Anonymous said...

Congrats on the new oldies station!! I only just found it today on ITunes!! And it seems to be good thus far! But I have been a long time listener to you since I was in 6th grade.... so I guess to say that's a long time!! Good luck to your new job and keep up the good work!!

Oh man. How I would love to hear some Randy and Spiff again. I grew up riding in the car to school with that. I loved it so much. Especially the Friday song which I had to track down eventually. keep us posted where we can hear you next!

Anonymous said...

You used to play a song fairly regularly when I lived in Atlanta which I thought was called "Happy boy". Can you tell me the real title and the artist? Thanks

Spiff said...

Happy Boy was by "Country Dick & The Beat Farmers". You will probably find it under "The Beat Farmers" as Country Dick has passed away. Hubba hubba Hubba ...

CyberSpiff said...

'bout danged time. We missed you guys!

Bravo to 106.7 for making the move. R&S are the only local radio team that will get me to turn off satellite radio.

Unknown said...

Randy and Spiff: Congratulations to you both and 106.7 for making the True Oldies really come back to the ATL area. We love you guys a lot and have been in withdrawal since the changes came about with the stations. Your show in the morning gets us started on a good day and we want to continue hearing you and your humor along with our oldies - FOREVER.
Best regards,
Charlotte

Spiff, I've listened to you and Randy on and off since you first came to Atlanta. Loved Fox 97. I really enjoyed 106.7 when I found it until they recently changed their format. Don't like it at all and I will miss you. Sorry, Nancy

Thanks for your input Nancy. Appreciate your past loyalty.
