What Color Background?

It has been brought to my attention by a couple of people that it was difficult reading my posts on a black background. So, I'm considering a white background. Do you have a preference? Let me know by voting in this weeks' poll. Thanks! Just FYI ... I like the black because it makes my photos appear more colorful and vibrant.

I like the black background better. As to the new header, I'm not even going to ask what the exclamation point is made out of.

I am with you on the black backgroud. And, the exclamation point was actually a hole in the cement ... thank you very much.

www.blackle.com/about/

Blackle was created by Heap Media to remind us all of the need to take small steps in our everyday lives to save energy. Blackle searches are powered by Google Custom Search.

Blackle saves energy because the screen is predominantly black. "Image displayed is primarily a function of the user's color settings and desktop graphics, as well as the color and size of open application windows; a given monitor requires more power to display a white (or light) screen than a black (or dark) screen." Roberson et al, 2002

In January 2007 a blog post titled Black Google Would Save 750 Megawatt-hours a Year proposed the theory that a black version of the Google search engine would save a fair bit of energy due to the popularity of the search engine. Since then there has been skepticism about the significance of the energy savings that can be achieved and the cost in terms of readability of black web pages.

We believe that there is value in the concept because even if the energy savings are small, they all add up. Secondly we feel that seeing Blackle every time we load our web browser reminds us that we need to keep taking small steps to save energy.

I like the black background myself...it seems like it's easier on the eyes while reading than the white or lighter backgrounds. Also love the new header!
I am enjoying your new web site and glad to see you being so active with it. GREAT for a daily dose of laughter! Keep up the good work and looking foward to hearing you and Randy back on the airwaves soon (hopefully)!!

I did read somewhere that white print on a black background was easier on your eyes. (Probably a study done by the Black Background Society.) Anyway ... I like the look of it as is but I was interested in what other people thought.
